An action is self-centered if it is about the person doing it, and selfish if it is about the person who is doing it. It is important to note that selfish actions and thoughts come first. In the game you have a choice of four different actions to help a party of eight characters in their quest to free their island from Visionaries.
The first action you can choose to do is “help an innocent bystander.” An innocent bystander is a character that isn’t a villain. They are a person that has nothing to do with the villain and therefore isn’t the target of the villain’s plan. When you help an innocent bystander you are helping the innocent bystander not the villain.
The next action you can choose to do is help the villain. When you help the villain you are helping the villain not the innocent bystander.
Yes, the villain in Deathloop is the Visionaries. Their island is full of enemies, and the villain is the one who’s trying to kill us. We need to help him and we need to help the Visionaries. The Visionaries are the least likely crowd to be a villain. You can help and they can help, but you can’t help them unless you choose to do it.
One of the reasons we love the Deathloop gameplay is because it’s a sort of ‘one-shot’ game. You can either die, or you can fight the Visionaries. If you kill them, the game is over. If you don’t fight them, you lose. Which means that if you want to play the game, you need to be prepared to lose.
